Don't you hate when sjw try to find social injustice in fucking everything?

I think it’s really justified what they’re trying to put across most of the time, but they just put it across in a way that makes it hard to agree with. It can bug me sometimes, yeah. Just don’t worry about it too much is probably your best option. You can come off anon if you want and talk to me.

So I just noticed a lot of people are headcanoning mello as gay and its kind of confusing cause headcanons are supposed to go along with canon evidence but not actually stated and mello is straight in it and he's in a relationship with halle but people still make headcanons that he's gay or demisexual that's like someone having a headcanon that misa is transgender when it actually states in the anime she's cis so i'm just wondering why people try to ignore the fact that he's a heterosexual male

Wow so I’m a piece of shit for not answering earlier (I think this is a year old?) but I’m sort of bad at these kind of things. Okay, here goes.

None of the Death Note characters have ever actually stated or been quoted to be any sexuality to my knowledge. If there was somebody, it was most likely Light or Misa. For the heterosexual part, Mello’s sexuality has actually never been quoted or even been in an interview with Tsugumi Oba or Takeshi Obata. He never interacts with the women in the mafia headquarters and when spying on Misa, he does not comment on her as a female besides to mention her relationship to Light, even when Matt points out twice how cute she is. Technically, we have about as much reason to assume he’s gay or ace or pan as we do that he’s straight.

Now just on to the Halle thing. Canonically, it was never mentioned that they were in a relationship. There was the bit when Halle is in the shower and tells him she doesn’t mind having him live in her bathroom, but that always gave off more of the friends vibe to me. Halle only sought Mello out because she wanted Kira caught and wasn’t on anyone’s team. There is nothing really implied between them (I think she might have invited him into the shower in the anime, but I don’t really remember) that I see, and they genuinely just wanted to catch Kira. Remember, Mello didn’t even hesitate to leave her, and I don’t believe they even contacted back in Japan (I’m a little hazy on that part, though).

I don’t really think they’re ignoring the fact that he’s heterosexual rather than just interpreting his sexuality to their whims because, to my knowledge, they’ve never been given any information at all considering his attractions. The headcanons are, in my opinion, almost all plausible. Don’t forget that he could be bisexual or pansexual or demisexual or many other sexualties, being attracted to girls as well as any other gender. I hope I could help!

Can I have a post on Light and Sayu's relationship, please? :)

    mikami:

With pleasure, omg! The Yagami siblings are the cutest and their closeness warms my little heart. I’m always kind of amazed that people can honestly say Light doesn’t care about his family, when we get the obvious inference that he and his sister are close from even before we see said sister onwards.

    image

This is two panels and they already say a whole lot. Sayu hasn’t been knocking, instead she seems to more intent on just slamming the door open judging by the intensity of that KACHUNK bubble. She reacts to the locked door with obvious confusion and rather than accepting the door is shut, she keeps rattling it as if she somewhat believes it has to be just stuck instead of locked - it’s that weird to her that Light would lock her out.  What we learn from this is that Sayu can go in and out of Light’s private space as she pleases. They live a barrier-free sibling life in which his space is her space. They don’t seem to keep secrets from each other, they never seem to have had a need for the privacy of locked doors before.

    image

Further, Sayu seems to take it for perfectly granted that Light will ‘help’ her with her homework. This clearly has precedent (Soichiro also remarks on it with ‘again’) later and lots of that. Both siblings know she’s not really asking for help to understand, she just wants him to do it for her.

    image

She’s not trying very hard to hide that either. Look at the face of someone who hasn’t even been trying to think along with the explanations. The second panel clearly shows Light’s been doing mostly all of her problems under the guise of ‘explaining’. Being a canonical genius who is fantastic at reading people, Light of course also knows that she’s taking advantage of his smarts and lets it happen. His stern brother act seems as much for show as her excuse of needing an explanation. The matter of fact is, he willingly lets Sayu get away with her laziness and repeatedly so. We know Light, he doesn’t let people walk all over him habitually - Sayu has a special standing with the boy.

02/24/2016 | [lawlight week - day one] prompt blue (au): high school/college au

AU where Light and L are assigned roommates in a private college. No one has committed murder, L and Light still bicker after three years of rooming, and Light may like L more than he thinks.

things that are shady af under real-world circumstances but seems to be dismissed in the relative importance of the Kira case:

    • the 6-years age difference between Light and L; with regards to the surveillance and confinement Light is put under, under the direct instruction and involvement of L
    • the differences in the treatment of Light and Misa’s confinement
    • Misa’s confinement was likely to have left her hallucinating by the end of it (what with the deprivation of visual stimuli) and yet it is never mentioned in the manga/anime
    • her and Light are also likely to develop stockholm syndrome, among other mental conditions, yet again another factor that is never addressed (even if they didn’t suffer from mental effects of the confinement, L and the Task Force as PROFESSIONALS should have at least considered getting them psychiatric help, just to be safe. it’s not even mentioned in passing.)
      • but maybe the reason Misa was strong enough to withstand the confinement methods+torture and still hold on to the secret of the DN is because she’s dealt with trauma before, at least twice canonically (parents’ death and her near-death experience with the crazed fan (or just a robber?)) which is YET another factor canon barely addresses and fanon just completely ignores
      • going by that logic though, Light should be more than likely to suffer from the confinement’s mental effects because he’s the “pampered genius” whose boredom led him to try out the notebook - that suggests he’d grown up without adversity. and he should react badly to his first potentially traumatic event.
    • back to the illegal surveillance of the Yagami family. Sayu and Sachiko are both WOMEN, subjecting two socially-oppressed individuals to a situation where they are left in vulnerable positions is hardly fair (then again i’m not surprised at the misogyny. *rolls eyes* Ohba…)
      • even Mello was more meticulous in ensuring the safety of women (at least in the instances of Halle and Takada), but then again that was his downfall with Takada (i don’t like what this implies though)

    [TBC]

    [ETA]

    • L making Soichiro shoot Light with a blank = more trauma for Misa and Light as well as Soichiro. pay up the therapy bills, bitch.

    #oh god    #this is wonderful    #dn    #too true

#even Mello was more meticulous in ensuring the safety of women #everyone forgets that Mello was being far more empathetic than L #Mello empathized with literally everyone he came in contact with #oh murderer #yes murderer #but there’s more to him

ahh, when i wrote “even Mello was more careful” i wasn’t saying even the “crazy murderer that went to ridiculous extents” was more careful - meant it in the sense that “even a successor of L that was much younger in canon and also purportedly ranked second” was more careful
